« Steeped in natural beauty, mysterious, entrancing, luminous, and genuine, the Belledonne mountain range offers a setting above all expectations, to those who come to contemplate and appreciate its natural splendour. » L.Montico
The Belledonne
range stretches over 60kms from north to south, between Grenoble and
Chambéry. Overlooking the Grésivaudan valley, its highest peak reaches up
to nearly 3000 meters (Grand Pic de Belledonne 2977m). Wild and picturesque, this brown and white ' Sierra' adorns the city
of Grenoble with one of the most beautiful ornaments of the Isère Alps. A
majestic rock barrier that represents the strength and unity of the resorts
that nest in the heart of this mountain range.
Belledonne has two spa and health resorts, Allevard-les-Bains and Uriage-Les-Bains,
three summer/winter ski and sports resorts, Chamrousse, the 7 Laux and the Collet d' Allevard, and two resorts specifically for Nordic skiing, at the Barioz and the
Arselle.
Belledonne is multifaceted and offers countless cultural, sport related and leisure
activities.
It’s natural and cultural heritage, the Pays d'Allevard, Theys and the 7 Laux,
Uriage-les-Bains or Chamrousse are the promise of a total change of scenery.
The “route des balcons” (a mountain ledge road) winding its way over 65kms,
from small towns to villages, from villages to ski-resorts, offers a
breathtaking view of the Grésivaudan valley, the Vercors and the Chartreuse.
The Val Gelon, the valley des Huiles, the valley des Villards and the Rivier
d'Allemont occupy the other slope of Belledonne. You will enjoy discovering these landscapes, the local inhabitants and
their typical way of life.
