Grenoble and surrounding areas

Grenoble, the former capital of the Dauphiné, revives Stendhal’s footsteps through its picturesque alleys and town squares. The Grenoble-Bastille cable car (affectionately known as « The bubbles » because of the shape) will take you in air to the Bastille fortress above Grenoble where you can enjoy the open view onto the mountain ranges that became famous with the 1968 Olympics Games, the year when Jean-Claude Killy won three gold medals.

Right at the door of the Chartreuse and its natural park, Voiron is where the famous cellars of the Chartreuse liqueur can be visited, a recipe still kept secret by the monks of the Grande Chartreuse on the heights of Saint Pierre de Chartreuse.

Capital city of the Allobroges under the Roman Empire, Vienna has an archaeological heritage considered one of the richest in France. Backing onto the rocky slopes of the Mont Pipet, its ancient Roman theatre with 42 steps is a place for cultural events including the famous Jazz Festival, well known internationally

Situated next to Grenoble and the Massif de l'Oisans along the famous Route Napoleon, the Domaine Départmental deVizille combines a prestigious natural and cultural heritage. While discovering the Vizille castle, cradle of the French Revolution, you can visit the Museum of the Revolution, its Animal Park and gardens.
